and then i thought...

what if i combined the metal elements with some of the scraps of photos i have - details of my quilts - that were printed on extra heavy paper stock?

 and this is what happened:

seven binder clips (3/4"x 1 1/2"), 1" photos on heavy stock, 36" neoprene cord

and then i tried a similar idea with larger metal pieces and larger scraps:

seven binder clips (1 1/4" x 2 1/4"), 2" square photographs on heavy stock, 1/4" rubber tubing with glass beads, pewter toggle

i quite like them both! they are lightweight, colorful, and easy to wear.

i need to figure out how to protect the paper, though...a glaze of some sort that won't distort the paper...hmmm...

any ideas on a product that might work?

i've considered sewing the photos in bits of clear vinyl, but i don't want to over-complicate the necklaces.

p.s. headed off for a few days, but can't wait to get back to the studio to try out all the ideas these pieces have triggered! hope you have a wonderful weekend!
